Did you know that....
The United States of America has more people in prison than any other nation. Approximately one out of every four prisoners on the entire planet are in U.S. prisons, but the United States only accounts for about five percent of the total global population. Overall, it costs more than 60 billion dollars a year to keep those incarcerated locked up.
Fidelis Mitigation Consultants was founded on the belief that we, as human beings, need to find a better way to address the problem of mass incarceration. Many people within U.S prisons suffer from mental illness, addiction, and poverty. Today many of our nation's public and private school systems rely on the criminal justice system as a way to discipline our youth for even the most minor of offenses.
Unfortunately most people do not fully understand the ramifications of a felony conviction before it is too late. In this country a felony conviction limits or denies access to much needed recources such as, financial aid, housing, employment, enlistment into the armed forces, voting rights, and obtaining and maintaining licensing.
In New York, minors from the age sixteen can be convicted of a crime and charged as an adult, cutting them off from much needed recources, therefore decreasing their ability to survive and increasing the probability of criminal recidivism.

Our Mission
Fidelis Mitigation Consultants is a social work firm that provides defense advocacy to individuals who are charged with a crime. It is our mission to investigate, report and address the mitigating circumstances that have contributed to an individual's contact with the criminal justice system, such as mental illness, addiction, and poverty, and find creative and effective long-term solutions that meet the needs of the individual while ensuring the safety of the community at large.
